"Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life. It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all."
J.K. Rowling
(Harvard University Commencement, June 2008)
I want to write something about what this means to me and I just can't find the words. It resonates with me to my very core and even brought tears to my eyes. I have failed. I have failed again, and again, and again. I have made the same mistakes more than once, and half way through the second (or third) time, I think What the heck are you doing? and I stop. Is it still a failure if you stop before you finish? No matter what, failure is essential to success. I believe this is true. What do you think?

WOW! I was just discussing the speech (where the quote came from) that she gave at Harvard, with someone THIS PAST WEEKEND (10/2)! I found it on TED.com and I have watched it several times. This quote makes me think of another:
"Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that’s where you will find success." - Thomas Watson
Me, too! WOW! I read the quote you shared and it gave me chills! I'm using it for my next post! Thank you! Hey, did you see my post today? Share your Dream NOT come true and why. I would love to include yours in my list next year! You made my day today! Thank you!
